Japanese anime have a huge following all over the world. The Seven Deadly Sins, currently being aired on Netflix is one of the latest popular shows. Its mobile game counterpart follows the source material to the tee and in the process creates an engaging and immersive experience.

The story is in the fantasy genre where the 7 Deadly Sins are a band of warriors who were wrongly accused of planning a coup in the kingdom of Britania by the Holy Knights and were disbanded. The story follows the journey of the leader of the 7DS as they try to regroup again in their quest to defeat the Holy Knights who they realize are being controlled by daemons. What sets the game apart from the rest of the games is the high attention to detail paid to the art, sound and the entire universe. All the locations have been recreated beautifully in the 3D environment. As a player you feel like you are part of the story.

One of the innovations of this game is the combat system. Like most of the RPG games, it is turn based but the new systems added by the developers add a refreshing layer of strategy to it. You go into a match with 4 players, 3 of which will be part of the fight. Fighting is done through cards and you are given 7 of them. Each player has different abilities and these cards define those abilities. These abilities are classified as attack, shield, counterattack. You can combine two similar cards to increase their impact. There is a choice between using the cards and combining them as you have only 3 moves per turn. You can also select the enemy that you want to specifically attack based on which one is going to attack you in the next turn. The gameplay stands out among other competitors as it offers a lot of strategies options along with great visuals.

The Seven Deadly Sins is a role playing experience and as you play the game, you experience the story and unlock new characters. You do this through the randomized gatcha pack. You also unlock these characters as you go through the story and make friends along the way. These characters can also be upgraded through coins. There are also many tasks like cooking, serving, dressing up and other quests. There are also multiple events that are parallel stories which give you awesome rewards. There are also multiplayer events that unlock later on.

Its been a long time since we have had a game that feels like an anime. The Seven Deadly Sins Grand Cross is a great and immersive experience. The story bits are sometimes too long and it takes a while to get back to the gameplay. There are also too many systems in the game to get a hold of when you start the game. However, if you want an immersive anime experience, you need to look no further.
